Anniversary Theme

The next session in the Doctor Who Bar has an Anniversary theme, inspired by the winner of our last story poll The Three Doctors.

As you can see opposite, the stories selected are either Anniversary stories or their particular setting has an Anniversary theme.

Remembrance of the Daleks whilst not being an Anniversary story, (that's Silver Nemesis) is set in some of the key settings of the very first Doctor Who adventure An Unearthly Child, and was shown as the first story of the programmes twenty fifth season.

In the case of The Two Doctors, Patrick Troughton and Frazer Hines so enjoyed appearing in the ninety minute special  The Five Doctors that they asked if they could come back.  Robert Holmes very nicely obliged writing a story where the Sixth Doctor runs into the Second Doctor.

Both Silver Nemesis and The Five Doctors are Anniversary specials.  One of them is a truly glorious reunion of many of the Doctors and his companions and the other isn't!!  You have to guess which one!?!

Whilst Silver Nemesis isn't a bad story it's not really held in high regard by the fans and neither for that matter is The Five Doctors, but whatever your own personal preference you can't deny that The Five Doctors really went out of it's way to celebrate the show on it's original airing.
